The Actors Radar — Community Guidelines
Welcome to The Actors Radar community.
This private Facebook group brings together actors who want to take a more informed, strategic and proactive approach to building their careers.
Whether you're researching upcoming productions, navigating representation, developing industry relationships, improving your marketing or creating your own opportunities, this is a place to exchange ideas, ask questions, share experiences and support one another.
Acting can be exciting, frustrating, unpredictable and occasionally downright exhausting. We want this to be somewhere you can celebrate your wins, discuss your challenges and learn from other actors who understand the industry.
You don't need to have all the answers. You don't need to be at a particular stage in your career. You simply need to participate with curiosity, generosity and respect.
To keep the community useful and welcoming, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines.
1. Be respectful, constructive and professional
Treat other members as fellow professionals, not competitors.
Different opinions, experiences and approaches to building an acting career are welcome. Personal attacks, bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination and deliberately hurtful comments are not.
Disagree with ideas, not people.
Remember that written comments can easily be misunderstood. Give people the benefit of the doubt and approach conversations in good faith.
2. Keep discussions relevant to acting careers
This group exists to help actors navigate the business of acting.
We welcome conversations about casting, auditions, agents, managers, production opportunities, career strategy, networking, marketing, industry developments and creating your own work.
You're also welcome to ask questions, share professional experiences and discuss challenges you're facing.
Please avoid unrelated content, general political arguments, culture-war debates or discussions intended primarily to provoke conflict.
Industry issues involving representation, equality, accessibility and professional working conditions are absolutely relevant when discussed constructively.
3. Share knowledge, not just questions
A strong community works when members both receive and contribute.
If you've discovered something useful, share it. If you've learned from a mistake, tell us. If another member asks a question you can help answer, join the conversation.
Celebrate other actors' successes, whether that's securing representation, booking a role, getting an audition or taking a meaningful step forward.
You don't have to be an expert to contribute. Sometimes sharing your own experience is enough.
4. Keep criticism and frustration constructive
We know the industry isn't always fair, straightforward or encouraging.
It's perfectly acceptable to discuss difficult experiences, express frustration or question established industry practices.
However, please avoid personal attacks, unsubstantiated allegations, naming and shaming, or repeated hostile complaints about individuals or organisations.
Where possible, aim to turn difficult experiences into useful discussions, shared learning or practical advice.
You can be honest about the challenges of this industry without making the group a negative place to be.
5. Respect privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries
This is a private Facebook group, but that doesn't mean everything shared here is automatically confidential.
Please do not screenshot, copy, record or redistribute another member's posts, comments, videos, self-tapes, personal experiences or contact details without their permission.
Respect confidential audition material, scripts, casting information, non-disclosure agreements and any other professional obligations.
Do not publish private correspondence or personal contact information belonging to casting directors, agents, producers or other industry professionals without appropriate permission.
If you share information obtained through Greenlight Radar, please respect the membership terms and do not reproduce or distribute subscription-only research, databases or resources outside their intended use.
6. No spam, unsolicited selling or aggressive self-promotion
We encourage members to share professional achievements, creative projects, screenings, performances and genuinely useful resources.
However, this is not a marketplace or advertising group.
Please do not post repetitive promotions, affiliate links, unrelated advertisements, recruitment schemes or sales pitches.
Do not contact other members through unsolicited Facebook messages to sell services, promote products, recruit clients or pressure them into collaborations.
If you're offering a service or opportunity that you believe would genuinely benefit the community, please ask an administrator before promoting it.
7. Give feedback respectfully — and only when it's welcome
Members may occasionally share headshots, showreels, self-tapes, websites, pitches or other career materials.
If someone requests feedback, aim to make it specific, constructive and useful.
Avoid personal judgements, unnecessarily harsh criticism or unsolicited assessments of someone's appearance, abilities or career prospects.
Good feedback helps someone understand what they might improve or explore next.
Remember that everyone is at a different stage in their career.
8. Be responsible when sharing industry information
One of the purposes of The Actors Radar is to help actors make better-informed career decisions.
If you're sharing information about a production, casting opportunity, agency, industry contact or professional practice, please distinguish between confirmed facts, personal experience and speculation.
Avoid spreading rumours, presenting unverified information as fact or making claims about industry professionals that you cannot substantiate.
Where possible, share reliable sources so other members can evaluate information for themselves.
Please also be mindful of scams, fraudulent casting calls and requests for inappropriate payments or personal information.
9. Respect the group and its moderators
The Actors Radar team may remove posts or comments that breach these guidelines, are misleading, create unnecessary conflict or undermine the purpose of the community.
Depending on the circumstances, we may issue a warning, decline posts, restrict participation or remove members from the Facebook group.
Serious harassment, threatening behaviour, discrimination, spam or repeated disregard for these guidelines may result in immediate removal.
We aim to moderate fairly, but not every post or comment can be reviewed immediately. If something concerns you, please report it to the group administrators rather than starting a public confrontation.
Participation in the Facebook group is also subject to Meta's applicable community standards and group rules.
10. Bring the right spirit
Before posting or replying, ask yourself:
Is this useful, constructive or supportive of the people in this community?
That doesn't mean everything has to be positive. Honest questions, difficult conversations, professional disagreements and occasional frustrations all have their place.
Bring your curiosity. Share what you've learned. Ask for help. Offer encouragement. Celebrate progress.
Above all, remember that we're here to help each other navigate the industry more intelligently and build stronger, more sustainable acting careers.
In short
Be respectful. Share generously. Stay professional. Protect confidentiality. Support each other's progress.
The Actors Radar is built around three principles:
INTEL • STRATEGY • ACTION
Our community should reflect those principles — helping actors turn information into understanding, understanding into strategy, and strategy into meaningful action.
