NOTE: Some of the lessons in this course are long by "modern attention-span standards". This is not a slapped-together "bare minimum" course. You are learning a new technical skill, as well as new tools and technology.

For the longer lessons, grab yourself a tea or coffee and settle in. Follow along, and try to put into practise each lesson as we go. Don't rush. This is a brand new skill and workflow you are learning, and you will occasionally get frustrated. When that happens, just pause the lesson, think for a few minutes, rewind as far as you need to and rewatch the section you struggle with.

Once you have gone through the course, and have tried it out practically once or twice, this will come easily to you.

DO NOT USE THIS FOR SELF-TAPES (AUDITION TAPES)

SELF-TAPE (DON'T USE): A self-tape (audition tape) is when you have been sent an audition and asked to record a self-tape in front of a blank wall to submit for a role. Usually on a very short timeframe. Do not use this workflow to create a scene for that. When a Casting Director or Producer requests a self-tape for a specific audition, they are looking for two things: your raw performance, and your ability to follow instructions. They almost universally require a blank, neutral background (usually grey or blue) with standard lighting. If you submit a fully composited, VFX-heavy "creative" scene with a virtual background ,when they asked for a standard self-tape, it will distract from your acting and make it look like you cannot follow basic industry directions. Always give casting exactly what they ask for. Save the virtual production for Demo Reels or Showreels, Outreach, Short Films and any of your own scenes and projects.
DEMO REEL/ SHOWREEL (DO USE): A demo reel or showreel is your cinematic resume/ cv. It lives on your casting profiles and website to show the industry exactly what you are capable of acting-wise. This workflow is perfectly designed for building out your reel. Instead of waiting years to be cast in high-budget projects, you can instantly create high-end, multi-genre scenes that prove you can carry a cinematic narrative.

Pitching for a legal thriller? Drop yourself, as a lawyer, into a high-stakes, wood-paneled courtroom.
Pitching for a Star Wars spin-off? Film a scene as a rogue smuggler in a neon-lit cyberpunk cantina.
Pitching for the next Jane Austen adaptation? Light yourself with a warm glow and step into a 19th-century Victorian parlor as a lord or lady.

To execute this outreach successfully and actually get your new scenes viewed, you need two things:
